Clear Aligner Care From Start to Finish

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of custom-made, transparent trays worn over your teeth. Each set applies gentle, targeted pressure to move specific teeth a small amount, and you move to the next set roughly every one to two weeks as your teeth respond. Because the trays are removable, you take them out to eat, brush, and floss, then wear them 20 to 22 hours a day for the rest of the time. Most treatment plans fall between 6 and 18 months depending on how much movement your bite needs.

Your Digital Scan and Smile Preview

Your treatment starts with a digital scan rather than a tray of impression material. A small handheld scanner captures a precise 3D model of your teeth and bite in minutes, with nothing to bite down on and nothing to gag on. From that scan we map the full sequence of tooth movements, which means you can see a preview of the projected result before you commit to treatment. It also gives us a concrete way to talk through what Invisalign can and cannot correct in your particular case.

Custom Aligner Fitting

Once your plan is approved, your aligners are manufactured to fit only your teeth. At your fitting visit we confirm each tray seats correctly, place any small tooth-colored attachments your plan calls for, and show you how to insert and remove the trays without stressing them. You leave knowing your wear schedule, how to clean the aligners, and what normal feels like in the first few days. Mild pressure or tightness with a new set is expected and usually settles within a day or two.

Progress Checks and Retention

You return roughly every 6 to 8 weeks so Dr. Ramanpreet Kaur can confirm your teeth are tracking to plan and hand off your next sets of trays. If a tooth is moving more slowly than projected, we can adjust the plan or order refinement aligners to close the gap between the projection and reality. When active treatment finishes, we fit you with a retainer and set a wear schedule, because teeth drift over a lifetime and retention is what protects the result you paid for.

Invisalign for Adults

Plenty of adults reach us having wanted straighter teeth for years but never wanted metal brackets in work meetings or photographs. Clear aligners solve that, and they also solve the practical problems: nothing to avoid at dinner, no wires to catch, and normal brushing and flossing throughout. Crowding, spacing, and mild to moderate bite issues all respond well. Age is not a barrier on its own, and we treat patients well into their later decades as long as the supporting gums and bone are healthy.

Invisalign for Teens

For teenagers, the appearance of treatment often decides whether they will cooperate with it at all, and clear trays are far easier to accept than brackets. Removability also means sports, band instruments, and school photos carry on as normal. The trade-off is that aligners only work when they are in, so we set clear expectations with both the teen and the parent about the 20 to 22 hour target and we track wear at every visit. Some plans include indicators that let us confirm trays are being worn as prescribed.

Discreet, Removable, Predictable

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear aligner system that moves teeth into better position using a planned sequence of custom trays instead of fixed brackets and wires. The trays are made of a smooth, transparent material that sits closely over your teeth, so at conversational distance most people will not notice you are in treatment at all.

Straighter teeth are not only a cosmetic result. Teeth that sit in good alignment are easier to clean thoroughly, which lowers your risk of decay and gum disease over time. A bite that meets evenly also spreads chewing forces the way it was meant to, reducing uneven wear on individual teeth and the strain that can build in the jaw joints.

At Divine Family Dental, Invisalign is planned and monitored in the same office where you already get your cleanings, exams, and restorative care. That means one team holds the full picture of your dental health, and anything that needs attention before or during alignment gets handled without a referral out.

Planned Carefully, Monitored Closely

Why Choose Divine Family Dental for Invisalign

Dr. Ramanpreet Kaur plans Invisalign cases with attention to more than tooth position. She assesses how your teeth meet, how your bite functions, and whether the result will hold over the long term, then tells you honestly whether clear aligners are the right tool for what you want to change.

Before you commit, you see the plan. The digital scan produces a projection of how your teeth will move and where they will finish, so the conversation about cost and timeline happens with a concrete result in front of you rather than a general promise.

Throughout treatment you get regular progress reviews, straightforward answers about what is and is not on track, and care in the language you are most comfortable in. Our team speaks English, Spanish, Hindi, and Punjabi, and questions about coverage or payment are answered plainly at the front desk.

Common Questions

About Invisalign

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Most Invisalign cases finish between 6 and 18 months, though the honest answer depends on how far your teeth need to travel. Minor crowding or a small relapse after previous braces can resolve in a few months. Cases involving significant crowding, spacing, or bite correction sit at the longer end of the range. Your projected timeline comes out of the digital plan we build from your scan, so you will have a specific estimate for your case rather than a general range before you start. The single biggest factor within your control is wear time, since aligners only move teeth while they are actually in your mouth.

Invisalign is not generally painful, but you should expect to feel it working. When you switch to a new set of trays, the first day or two usually brings a sense of pressure or tightness on the teeth being moved, which is the aligner doing its job. That feeling fades as the teeth respond. Most patients find an over-the-counter pain reliever is enough on those first days, and many need nothing at all. Because there are no brackets or wires, you avoid the poking, scraping, and emergency repair visits that come with fixed braces.

The target is 20 to 22 hours a day, every day. In practice that means the trays are in whenever you are not eating, drinking anything other than water, or cleaning your teeth. This is the part of treatment that rests entirely with you, and it is where most delays come from. Falling short by a few hours a day will not usually ruin the outcome, but it does stretch the timeline and can mean teeth stop tracking to the plan, which then requires refinement trays to correct. Building the trays into your daily routine early makes the rest of treatment much easier.

Clear aligners handle a good deal more than surface appearance. Crowding, spacing, and many mild to moderate bite problems, including some overbites, underbites, and crossbites, respond well to Invisalign. There are limits, though. Cases involving severe skeletal discrepancies or teeth that need substantial vertical movement may be better served by fixed braces or by a combined approach. That determination comes from your assessment and scan, and if Invisalign is not the right choice for your case we will say so rather than start a plan that cannot deliver.

They will, provided you wear your retainer. Teeth have a natural tendency to drift back toward their previous positions, and that tendency does not expire, which is why retention is a permanent part of orthodontic care rather than an optional add-on. We fit your retainer as active treatment ends and give you a specific wear schedule, typically full time at first and then nights only. Patients who follow that schedule keep their result indefinitely. The most common cause of relapse we see is a retainer that stopped being worn years earlier.
